OHB Slips 3.4% as Europe's Space and Defence Names Retreat, With Q3 Numbers Due 12 November
Published on 11/08/2026 at 14:11 | Editorial boerse-global.deOHB SE shares fell 3.4% on Friday, caught in a broad pullback across European space and defence stocks. Reuters attributed the wider decline in European equities to uncertainty over the outlook for artificial intelligence and a deterioration in market sentiment, and did not tie OHB's move to any company-specific news. The drop therefore reflects the sector and market backdrop rather than anything in the company's own flow of announcements.
A EUR 554 Million Sentinel-3 Mandate
Against that softer tape, the operational newsflow has been substantial. OHB System AG, the group's satellite-building subsidiary, has been tasked by the European Space Agency with developing the next generation of Sentinel-3 topography satellites for the Copernicus programme. The contract is worth EUR 554 million and carries an option for a second satellite, according to the company.
There has also been progress on the science side. The Hera probe, built by OHB System for ESA, has transmitted its first close-up images of the Didymos asteroid system back to Earth. ESA has flagged more detailed imagery for 25 November.

Astroscale Talks Still at the Study Stage
Roughly two weeks ago, OHB and Astroscale Holdings Inc. signed a letter of intent, according to Astroscale. The two companies will examine a possible collaboration on protecting critical infrastructure in space and on the sustainable use of orbit. The agreement covers a feasibility review, not a decision to proceed — a distinction worth keeping in mind when weighing how much of the news is already in the price.
KKR's Role: Seller, Not Buyer
On the shareholder register, KKR's position is sometimes misread. In the June 2026 capital increase, KKR acted as a seller of existing shares; the proceeds came from new investors coming in, while KKR trimmed its holding. According to the half-year report dated 6 August, KKR's stake subsequently stood at around 20%. The transaction was not a fresh KKR entry into OHB.
Fuchs Honoured, and a Date for the Diary
Chief executive Marco Fuchs has been named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2026 in the Innovation category, the company said. For investors, the next scheduled financial milestone is the release of third-quarter 2026 figures on 12 November at 08:00, according to the company's calendar — the point at which the recent run of contract and mission news meets reported business performance.
