Japanese technology group Omron has begun selling a service designed to help employers decide where their health spending will do the most good. Developed with partner company iCARE, the offering is called Health Investment Compass and was announced on 28 October 2026.

At its core is a machine-learning engine fed with company-specific data. From that, it estimates how far targeted improvements in workforce health problems would move the needle on absenteeism and overall productivity. The application then ranks the areas where intervention stands to pay off most.

Omron describes the product, based on its own survey as of October 2026, as Japan's first health-data analytics service of its kind. The stated aim is to make health budgets transparent and to steer spending toward measures with a measurable return.

A market the government wants to double

Why launch now? Structured corporate health promotion is drawing growing attention across Japan. Omron points to documents from the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) dated 14 July 2026, which show that only around 36% of large Japanese companies currently hold certification as leaders in health management.

At the same time, the Japanese government is pursuing a goal of roughly doubling the nationwide volume of health investment by 2040.

Omron sees substantial commercial room here. By its own estimates, the domestic market for corporate health management and the associated management support for companies totals 4,400 billion yen.

Corporate Health unit targets 12 billion yen by fiscal 2030

The launch also feeds the company's wider push to expand its services arm. Within its Corporate Health business, Omron is aiming for revenue of 12 billion yen in fiscal 2030. The tie-up with iCARE is meant to embed software-driven analytics more deeply into the management and HR processes of both large corporations and mid-sized firms.
