Palantir Faces a Bar Set Above Its Own Guidance as Wall Street Splits on Valuation
Published on 10/30/2026 at 14:50 | Editorial boerse-global.deWhen Palantir reports third-quarter 2026 results after the U.S. close on November 2, the headline revenue figure may matter less than what management says about the months ahead. Analysts are already modeling sales above the company's own forecast, which means a beat against internal targets would not, on its own, constitute a positive surprise.
The consensus for the quarter stands at $2.18 billion, implying growth of 84.7% year over year. Palantir itself has guided to $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion. For investors, the gap between official planning and the market's steeper hurdle is the number to watch.
Full-Year Outlook Becomes the Real Test
The same pattern holds for the full year. Palantir has projected 2026 revenue of $8.150 billion to $8.158 billion, while the analyst consensus sits at $8.22 billion. That leaves roughly $2.4 billion implied for the closing quarter based on the company's existing plan.
Oppenheimer expects another revenue beat and a raised annual forecast. Yet that expectation also cuts the other way: a more optimistic outlook would not, by itself, be an unexpected development. Any upgrade would need to be measured against whether it merely clears the company's prior guidance or actually reaches — or exceeds — the market's already elevated bar.

AI Demand Must Show Up in Bookings
JPMorgan sees support for a stronger outlook in corporate demand for measurable returns on artificial intelligence. According to analyst Brian Essex, the focus is shifting from exploring possible applications to concrete economic benefit, and Palantir has already crossed that threshold. The company's recent trajectory offers a data point: U.S. commercial revenue climbed 149% to $764 million in the second quarter of 2026.
A revenue beat alone will therefore not settle the report's significance. The strength of forward guidance and the development of remaining contract value matter just as much, since they can show whether surging AI demand is carrying growth expectations into future periods.
A Divided Analyst Camp
The recommendations arriving before the print point in different directions. JPMorgan initiated coverage of Palantir yesterday with an "Overweight" rating and a December 2027 price target of $262. RBC Capital, by contrast, reaffirmed its sell recommendation and $90 target on Wednesday, citing valuation concerns ahead of the third-quarter numbers. A third voice turned more bullish on Tuesday, lifting its target to $260 from $225 while keeping a buy rating.
The stock offered little encouragement in the meantime, shedding 0.7% yesterday — meaning JPMorgan's positive call did not translate into a daily gain.

New Deployments Beyond the Numbers
Palantir announced a fresh wave of sovereign AI deployments on October 21, involving work with NVIDIA, L3Harris, McCarthy Building Companies and Tampa General Hospital. McCarthy put the annual time savings from its AI-driven workflow at roughly 30,000 working hours.
The same day, The News & Observer reported that POSCO Future M had signed an agreement to deploy Palantir's Foundry and AIP platforms, starting with sales and marketing. Palantir also told Reuters on October 21 that neither the company nor the U.S. government could remotely deactivate customers' Maven systems.
