Partners Group Redraws Its Fund Shelf as Shareholders Pull the Plug on London Trust
Published on 10/18/2026 at 03:20 | Editorial boerse-global.dePartners Group is midway through a broad recalibration of how it packages and staffs its investment products, touching everything from private credit to listed vehicles. The Swiss asset manager is reworking fund structures and reallocating personnel across asset classes in response to shifting market conditions and sustained pressure from institutional clients.
The stock has felt that pressure. Partners Group shares closed Friday at EUR 655.20, down 38% since the start of the year, leaving the company with a market capitalisation of EUR 16.56 billion.
A New Credit Engine
Roughly a week ago, the firm rolled out a global multi-sector private credit income strategy, housed in an open-ended evergreen vehicle and aimed at both institutional investors and private wealth clients. Management is targeting high single-digit to low double-digit returns, generated mainly through running income. The portfolio spans senior direct lending, credit secondaries, fund financing, royalties, and opportunistic and liquid credit.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Partners Group?
Alongside that launch, Partners Group is refining its established private equity evergreen strategy to give investors more flexibility. The Global Value SICAV will be converted into an umbrella fund split into two sub-portfolios — one focused on long-term value appreciation, the other on realising returns already built up. The fund carried a net asset value of EUR 6.6 billion, according to company figures, and the plan has been put to investors as a proposal.
Buyout Desk Slims Down
Staffing has shifted too. Bloomberg reported that Partners Group cut or redeployed dozens of positions within its private equity team, which numbers more than 200 people. Some employees left the firm, while others moved into infrastructure and royalties. The company said the team's overall size remains in line with its long-term average, and the adjustments are intended to sharpen returns in the division against client expectations.
London Trust Votes for Wind-Down
At the listed-vehicle level, the changes are more final. Shareholders of Partners Group Private Equity Limited, which trades in London, backed an orderly liquidation of the investment trust with 99.9% of votes cast. Reuters reported that 74.1% of eligible voters had previously opted for the liquidity option, which shelved an earlier restructuring plan. The wind-down is managed by the trust itself and does not affect Partners Group Holding AG. Proceeds from portfolio sales are due to be paid out to investors in half-yearly tranches starting 31 March 2027.
