Partners Group Rings EUR 6 Billion of Refinancings With Creditor Curbs as Buyout Staffing Shifts
Published on 10/20/2026 at 03:10 | Editorial boerse-global.dePartners Group is moving on several fronts at once, and the sequence matters. The Swiss asset manager is simultaneously shielding three portfolio companies ahead of debt maturities, trimming headcount in its core buyout business, writing fresh credit and growth cheques, and — perhaps most tellingly for shareholders — buying its own stock from the inside.
The equity backdrop is grim. The shares changed hands at 657.80 euros on Monday, down 38% since the start of the year. A second reading put the price at 659.60 euros. Either way, the year-to-date damage is the same.
Contractual Walls Around EUR 6 Billion
At the heart of the defensive work sits a refinancing package worth roughly EUR 6 billion, or about USD 6.7 billion, across Emeria SASU, Ammega Group BV and Breitling AG. All three euro-denominated obligations fall due in 2028.
To keep its room to manoeuvre, Partners Group is using contractual clauses that bar hedge funds from acquiring those loans, according to Bloomberg. The restrictions on third-party creditors are especially tight at Emeria and Ammega. In effect, the firm is fencing off its portfolio companies from unwanted creditor influence well before talks begin.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Partners Group?
The credit machine is still lending, though. Partners Group's private-credit arm acted as senior lender on a unitranche refinancing for DELABO.group, a package that also includes unitranche and super-senior facilities plus lines for acquisitions, capital spending and working capital.
Buyout Desk Slims, Growth Cheques Still Clear
Staffing in the traditional private-equity unit has been recalibrated. Dozens of roles worldwide were cut or shifted, Bloomberg reported, with some employees leaving the firm and others redeployed internally into infrastructure and royalties. A spokesperson framed the departures as part of routine performance reviews.
The growth engine has not been idled. Through its private-equity growth strategy, and on behalf of clients, Partners Group co-led a USD 180 million Series F round for Scanntech. L Catterton led the financing, with Bradesco and SPX also participating.
Insiders Put CHF 21 Million Behind the Story
Roughly two weeks ago, members of the executive board and the board of directors bought Partners Group shares on their own account, a package worth about CHF 21 million. Market watchers typically read such purchases as a vote of confidence in the portfolio's long-term durability — a counterweight to a stock that has spent the year heading south.
Read together, the pieces form a single picture: a manager tightening its own cost base, fortifying existing holdings against outside creditors, and keeping selective powder dry for growth deals — while its leadership puts personal capital on the line.
