Plug Power has circled November 9, 2026 on the calendar, when it will release full third-quarter 2026 results and host a follow-up conference call. Ten days later, on November 19, the company will stage its virtual global "Plug Symposium," putting strategic initiatives under the spotlight. For investors, those two dates form the next real test of whether the hydrogen specialist's operational pivot is gaining traction.

The schedule lands on the heels of preliminary, unaudited figures for the third quarter. Management expects revenue growth of more than 10 percent year over year and has reaffirmed its full-year guidance of roughly 15 to 16 percent top-line expansion. Gross margin is also projected to improve versus the prior-year period.

A Quarter Without Fresh Capital

The most closely watched line item is cash. Net cash burn for the third quarter came to about $28 million, leaving cash and cash equivalents of roughly $134 million at period-end, adjusted for restricted deposits. What stands out is how that cushion was preserved: Plug Power drew neither on its existing at-the-market equity program nor on any other equity or debt financing during the quarter.

That restraint matters in a sector where investors now scrutinize every dollar spent. Curbing the outflow buys the company time — but it does not by itself answer the larger question of when the hydrogen economy will start paying its own way.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Plug Power?

Wall Street Trims Its Sights

Skepticism on the sell side remains firmly in place, and it stems less from the quarterly numbers than from the pace of the broader energy transition. On Wednesday, Morgan Stanley's David Arcaro cut his price target to $1.20 while keeping an "Underweight" rating, citing higher interest rates and valuation discounts across the renewable energy sector. The same day, Susquehanna lowered its target to $1.75 from $2.50 ahead of the quarterly reports, maintaining a "Neutral" stance. Morgan Stanley's move, dated October 14, also pointed explicitly to reduced long-term growth expectations amid sluggish hydrogen adoption.

The industry consensus has cooled noticeably. Where a few years ago analysts envisioned explosive demand for electrolysers, caution and delayed final investment decisions by industrial customers now dominate. Without dependable regulatory frameworks and offtake contracts, many large corporations are hesitant to commit billions to new plants.

Denmark Order Shows the Pipeline — and the Lag

The business has not stood still, however. Roughly two weeks ago, Plug Power signed a supply agreement with Arcadia eFuels for 280 megawatts of GenEco electrolysers for the ENDOR project in Denmark. The deal was paired with a strategic cooperation covering potential synthetic aviation fuel projects totaling more than 1 gigawatt. Such ventures illustrate the segment's theoretical potential, since e-SAF is regarded as one of the most promising applications for green hydrogen.

Deliveries for the Danish project, though, will only begin after the official go-ahead for project start. In this industry, a considerable gap routinely separates a signed contract from actual cash inflow.

Where the Stock Stands

Trading has been muted after recent swings. The shares changed hands at EUR 1.33 on Thursday, up 0.5 percent on the day, following a 2.2 percent advance to EUR 1.32 in the prior session. Over the past twelve months, the stock has shed around 55 percent.

Plug Power has become a bellwether for an entire future industry's trial by fire. Slowing the cash drain gives the company breathing room. Whether that buffer suffices depends not only on cost control inside its own factories, but on how quickly global industry converts decarbonization pledges into firm, large-scale orders. The November 9 audited statements and cash flow figures will be the first hard evidence of whether the stabilization sketched out in the preliminary numbers holds up.
