Powermax Minerals launches 2026 exploration at Cameron REE project in BC, but shares hit 52-week low; investors remain cautious despite ongoing multi-project efforts.

The gap between operational momentum and market reception has rarely been wider at Powermax Minerals. The junior rare-earth explorer kicked off its 2026 field campaign at the wholly owned Cameron project near Revelstoke, British Columbia, on 4 August, yet the stock spent the preceding session plumbing fresh depths — closing Thursday at 0.1060 euro, a new 52-week low.

The three-week programme represents the company's most ambitious attempt yet to convert early-stage geochemical promise into drill-ready targets. Field crews are now combining detailed geological mapping with geochemical sampling, selective rock chip collection, supplementary soil sampling, additional stream sediment work and radiometric ground surveys. The resulting datasets are slated to feed into a comprehensive target-prioritisation model, sharpening the boundaries of previously identified rare-earth anomaly corridors.

Management has been careful to frame expectations. The Cameron project remains in its formative stages, and the company acknowledges that geochemical or radiometric anomalies do not automatically translate into economically recoverable mineralisation. CEO Paul Gorman described himself as "pleased to begin this important 2026 exploration programme at the Cameron REE project," noting the work is designed to "integrate geological mapping, geochemical sampling and targeted geophysical surveys to better define and prioritise exploration targets."

The current campaign builds directly on Phase 2 results from last autumn, when sampling confirmed both light and heavy rare-earth mineralisation across the property. Total rare-earth oxide values from those earlier efforts ranged between 17 and 1,943 ppm, while heavy mineral concentrate samples reached between 365 and 7,561 ppm — figures that justified the follow-up work now underway.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Powermax Minerals?

British Columbia, however, is only half the story. Powermax has been running a multi-front exploration push, with helicopter-borne geophysical surveys and supplementary field work at the Pinard and Hopkins rare-earth projects in Ontario having commenced on 28 July. That programme pairs magnetic, radiometric and VLF-EM measurements with geological mapping, prospecting and surface sampling to build a more complete picture of subsurface structures. It follows a high-resolution magnetic and gamma-spectrometric survey completed at the Atikokan rare-earth project in northwestern Ontario back in June.

The company's broader portfolio also includes an option on the 455-claim Atikokan project, an option on the 5,178-hectare Pinard property in northern Ontario, and full ownership of the Ogden-Bear Lodge project in Wyoming. No operational updates have emerged from those three holdings in the past fortnight, with attention fixed squarely on Cameron.

Investors, for now, remain unimpressed. The stock was changing hands at 0.1100 euro on Friday, up 3.77 percent on the day — a modest bounce that does little to offset a year-to-date decline of 90.09 percent. The shares sit 23.98 percent below their 50-day moving average, underscoring a persistent medium-term downtrend, while annualised 30-day volatility of 95 percent reflects the violent swings typical of a micro-cap explorer whose valuation hinges on headline-driven news flow. The 14-day relative strength index, at 33.0, points to oversold conditions — though that has offered scant comfort to holders during the extended slide.

Powermax Minerals at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

No timetable has been set for releasing results from the Cameron fieldwork. With the campaign structured as three weeks of ground operations, initial data interpretation is unlikely to surface before late August or September. Until then, the stock's fate rests on patience — a commodity in short supply among investors who have watched the shares shed roughly nine-tenths of their value this year while the company methodically advances its geological work across two provinces.
