Primary Hydrogen's Rare Earth Quest Moves From Paper to Drilling Rig
Published on 08/14/2026 at 16:22 | Redaktion boerse-global.deInvestor enthusiasm is building around Primary Hydrogen Corp. as the company transitions from years of grassroots exploration into its first-ever drill campaign at the Wicheeda North rare earth project in British Columbia. The stock has climbed roughly 36 percent over the past month, with shares recently trading at EUR 0.9500 after a 10 percent jump on the drilling announcement.
That momentum reflects more than just the maiden drill program itself. The company has assembled the pieces — permitting, funding, and fresh leadership — to execute a multi-year exploration strategy at the project, and the market is beginning to price in what the drill bit might uncover.
A Five-Year Permit Removes Administrative Hurdles
The centerpiece of the announcement is a Mines Act permit valid through 2031, granting the company access to up to 70 drill sites, trenching operations, and eight kilometers of exploration access roads. The five-year approval means Primary Hydrogen can run successive exploration campaigns through 2030 without filing a new notice of work for each season — a structural advantage that should compress timelines between drill rounds.
Before the drill rigs arrive, the company plans to complete geochemical soil sampling and an airborne radiometric survey to further refine target zones identified during 2025 fieldwork. Two high-priority rare earth anomaly clusters discovered last year remain untested by drilling, and the maiden program is designed to go straight at them.
Cash in Hand, No Further Raises Needed
The roughly 1,500-meter program, scheduled for autumn 2026, is fully funded through two critical mineral flow-through financings announced in June and July. Proceeds are already sitting in the company's treasury, earmarked specifically for the Wicheeda North exploration campaign. Management has stated that no additional capital raise is required, removing a common source of execution risk for junior explorers.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying PRIMARY HYDROGEN?
The groundwork for these drill targets was laid last year. Primary Hydrogen completed an airborne VTEM and magnetic survey covering 401 line-kilometers, plus a soil sampling campaign that added 533 new samples, bringing the project's total to 1,234. Anomalous zones identified in the A-South and D-South grids now form the basis for the upcoming drill targets.
New Leadership Takes the Helm
The operational ramp-up has coincided with changes in the executive suite. David Jackson assumed the roles of President and CEO on July 20, succeeding Benjamin Asuncion, who remains on the board as a director. Just four days later, the company appointed Christopher Longton, CPG, as Vice President of Exploration.
These appointments follow an earlier transition in December 2025, when VP Exploration Peter Lauder departed. Drill program planning and execution now rests with internal staff supplemented by external qualified contractors.
Shareholders have shown strong support for the board's direction. At the September 2025 annual meeting, all three directors up for election — Asuncion, William Timothy Heenan, and Martin Kowcun — were confirmed with more than 99.9 percent approval each.
Financing Details and Market Visibility
The funding picture has evolved over recent months. In June, the company scaled back an unbrokered private placement under the Listed Issuer Financing Exemption from an original 4,200,000 units to 2,459,570 units at CAD 0.60 each. The placement closed in early July, generating gross proceeds of approximately CAD 1,475,742. Additionally, Primary Hydrogen granted options in June covering 360,000 common shares to directors and executives at an exercise price of CAD 0.76.
Late July brought a marketing agreement with digital firm Nordcore Media LLC, valued at USD 300,000 and structured for a six-month term or until the budget is exhausted. The arrangement aims to boost visibility as operational milestones at Wicheeda North become visible to investors.
Beyond Rare Earths: Hydrogen Exploration Continues
While Wicheeda North anchors the company's near-term catalysts, Primary Hydrogen maintains a parallel exploration track in Newfoundland and Labrador. Soil gas sampling at the Point Rosie and Mary's Harbour sites in November 2025 recorded hydrogen peak values of 531 ppm and 665 ppm, respectively — readings that suggest additional exploration potential in the region.
The stock's 52-week low of EUR 0.4500 was set in March, and the current price sits comfortably above that level. With the autumn drill campaign now the primary catalyst on the horizon, the question is whether the rare earth anomalies identified on the surface translate into drill-confirmed mineralization — the moment of truth for any exploration story.
