Shares climbed 9.1% on the day Baird trimmed its view, though the sources give no confirmed link between the two developments.
A Narrower Loss Than Expected
For the third quarter of 2026, reported on October 21, QuantumScape posted a net loss of $84.5 million. That worked out to $0.14 per share, comfortably better than the $0.17 analysts had forecast. The figure also marks a meaningful improvement on a year earlier, when the loss stood at $105.8 million.
The adjusted EBITDA shortfall for the quarter came in at $60.7 million. Customer billings reached $9.8 million, and the company closed the period with $819.8 million in liquid funds.
Management left its full-year 2026 guidance untouched: an adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of between $250 million and $275 million. Capital expenditure plans for the year were likewise unchanged, held at $27 million to $37 million.
