Renk Group Jumps 4.2% as Morgan Stanley Flags Year-End German Defense Contract Wave
Published on 10/16/2026 at 15:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deA broad recovery across European defense names gave the Renk Group a firm lift on Friday, with the Augsburg gearbox maker's shares advancing 4.2% to EUR 37.91. The move followed positive analyst commentary from Morgan Stanley, which told clients that a wave of orders from Germany's current federal budget is likely to be awarded before the year is out, according to dpa-AFX.
The US bank's view lifted the wider sector, with heavyweights Rheinmetall and Hensoldt joining the rally alongside the drivetrain specialist. Morgan Stanley expects the remaining funds in this year's defense budget to be converted into concrete contracts in the coming weeks — a prospect that improves planning visibility for suppliers and underpins demand for propulsion components used in heavy tracked vehicles.
Friday's gain extends a recent rebound for Renk, which had been trading at EUR 36.39 at Thursday's close and changed hands at EUR 36.90 in pre-market activity that morning. Even after the recovery, the stock remains down 32% since the start of the year.

Two Contract Wins Anchor the Order Book Into the 2030s
The sector tailwind arrives on top of tangible progress in Renk's core business. On Wednesday, the company and defense contractor KNDS Deutschland agreed to expand an existing order worth roughly EUR 130 million. The package covers HSWL 354 transmissions together with TCS-354A transmission control units and G4MA11 selector switches, destined for the Leopard 2 main battle tank and other vehicles in the Leopard 2 family. Deliveries under the agreement are scheduled to begin in 2029 and run through 2032, securing long-term utilization of the company's production lines.
A second order landed earlier in the month. On October 6, Patria commissioned Renk to supply additional HSWL-076 gearboxes for the TRACKX vehicle family, a contract with a total volume of EUR 30 million and delivery slated to start in 2027. Together, the two awards reinforce Renk's entrenched position in European defense programs and stretch its manufacturing pipeline well into the next decade.
Investor Attention Turns to November 5
With the order book filling up, attention now shifts to the company's reporting calendar. A Jefferies-organized roadshow in the United States, listed for October 14 to 16, has drawn to a close. Renk will host a pre-close call for analysts and investors in Augsburg on October 21, 2026, ahead of its nine-month results.
The quarterly report for the first nine months of fiscal 2026 is due on November 5, 2026, accompanied by a conference call. Market participants will be watching that interim statement closely for clues on margin development and on how far the new orders and the shifting market environment have already fed through to the group's operating figures and profitability.
