Renk's chief executive put his own money into the defence contractor's stock on the same day the company reported a sharp acceleration in orders. Alexander Sagel acquired 6,790 shares at €35.17 apiece in Xetra trading, a transaction worth €238,802.94 that was disclosed in a mandatory notification published yesterday.

The purchase coincided with the release of nine-month figures for 2026, which showed order intake climbing 33.6% year on year to €1,664.4 million. Revenue for the period reached €982.0 million, up 5.8%, while adjusted earnings before interest and taxes grew faster than sales — advancing 12.7% to €158.8 million.

Gearbox Contracts Stretch Into the 2030s

Among the bookings counted in the nine-month total were transmission orders from KNDS Deutschland and Patria, both of which carry delivery schedules stretching well beyond the current reporting period. KNDS placed an order worth roughly €130 million in the third quarter for HSWL 354 gearboxes destined for the LEOPARD 2 and its vehicle family, with shipments slated for 2029 through 2032. Patria followed with a €30 million follow-on order for HSWL 076 transmissions for its TRACKX vehicle family, deliveries for which are due to begin in 2027.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?

The order backlog stood at €7.6 billion as of 30 September. Sagel flagged the possibility that delays at prime contractors could slow the conversion of that backlog into revenue — a reminder that a full order book does not automatically translate into near-term sales.

Guidance Holds for Continuing Operations

Management reaffirmed its full-year outlook for the continuing operations. Renk continues to expect revenue of around €1.4 billion for 2026, with adjusted EBIT landing between €240 million and €255 million.

Separately, the company's marine business booked a mandate from Saab covering three Stirling power generation systems for a significant submarine programme belonging to a NATO member state. The announcement, released on 29 October, also highlighted propulsion solutions for unmanned surface vessels and previewed Renk's maritime portfolio presentation at the Euronaval trade fair in Paris, which runs from 3 to 6 November.

Investors will get a fuller picture of where the group is headed on 8 December, when Sagel is scheduled to outline the company's strategic direction at a hybrid strategy update in London.
