Renk's Miba Deal Is Only Half the Story as Analysts Split on What the Numbers Will Show

Renk shareholders are being asked to weigh two very different questions at once. The first concerns the sale of the company's plain bearings business to Miba, a transaction that will redraw the group's perimeter. The second is whether the underlying operating business is holding up. Judging by the share price, the market is not yet convinced on either count.

The stock slipped 2.3% on Friday, with dpa-AFX reporting that market participants read the adjusted annual guidance as a modest operational downgrade rather than a purely arithmetic consequence of the divestment. That distinction matters: stripping out a business unit and lowering expectations for the remaining one carry very different implications for valuation.

A Binding Contract, Not a Completed Sale

Renk signed a binding agreement on Thursday to sell its plain bearings operations to Miba, with the purchase price in the low-to-mid three-digit million euro range. The transaction runs through the wholly owned subsidiary Renk GmbH. Completion remains subject to antitrust clearance, so the agreed sale has not yet been executed.

For the continuing operations, Renk is guiding toward roughly EUR 1.4 billion in revenue for fiscal 2026 and adjusted EBIT of EUR 240 million to EUR 255 million. From the fourth quarter of 2026, the plain bearings unit will be reported as a discontinued operation under IFRS 5 — an accounting treatment that is separate from the pending regulatory approval.

Two Houses, Two Targets, One Direction

The analyst response has been notably consistent in direction even where the numbers diverge. JPMorgan cut its price target to EUR 50 from EUR 62 on Thursday while keeping its "Overweight" rating. Analyst David H. Perry pointed to the slower ramp-up of German armored vehicle programs and dimmer prospects for Renk's industrial businesses.

Barclays also trimmed its target on Thursday, to EUR 57 from EUR 60, and likewise left its "Overweight" rating in place. Neither move amounts to a sell recommendation, but both signal scaled-back expectations for the shares.

MPCM took the other side of the ledger. The research house reaffirmed its "Buy" rating on Friday and held its price target at EUR 63. Analyst Christian Cohrs expects solid overall results, focusing attention on the operating business after the strategic overhaul and the revised guidance dominated the debate. The stock's 2.2% daily decline stands in contrast to that constructive view ahead of the quarterly figures.

Renk Group at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

November 5 Is the Real Scorecard

Renk has scheduled publication of its nine-month 2026 results for November 5, 2026. Until then, the bullish case rests on expectation rather than evidence.

For investors, two layers need to be kept apart: operating performance and the changed scope of the group. The disposal determines which activities remain in the continuing figures, so a positive analyst rating is no substitute for examining the reported numbers themselves. The key yardstick is not the agreed sale price alone, but whether the retained business can carry the guidance. The November release offers the first concrete opportunity to test that question against actual trading.
