Renk's Miba Deal Is Signed, Not Sealed — and the 2026 Guidance Is Where the Real Test Lies
Published on 10/28/2026 at 19:30 | Editorial boerse-global.deRenk has put pen to paper on the sale of its plain bearings unit, but investors scanning the headlines for a clean exit story are looking in the wrong place. The binding agreement with Austria's Miba AG, signed on 22 October, carries a price tag in the low-to-mid three-digit million euro range. What it does not carry is regulatory clearance — the transaction still hinges on official approvals, meaning the deal is agreed but not yet closed.
That gap matters more than it might appear. The headline figure describes the terms of a contract, not cash already in the bank, and it says nothing about how the remaining business will perform. Two separate questions are folded into one announcement, and conflating them is where misreads happen.
A Smaller Company, a New Yardstick
Renk has redrawn the perimeter against which its guidance should be judged. The revised full-year forecast explicitly covers continuing operations, and for the 2026 fiscal year the company projects roughly EUR 1.4 billion in revenue alongside adjusted EBIT of EUR 240 million to EUR 255 million. The plain bearings business will be reported as a discontinued operation from the fourth quarter onward.
Traders, according to dpa-AFX, read the new guidance as a modest operational cut rather than a purely arithmetic adjustment for the planned divestment. In other words, the revision went beyond what the sale alone would explain — a detail that shifts attention squarely onto the earning power of what remains.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
Two Buy Ratings, Two Lower Targets
The analyst community has drawn a clear line between endorsing the strategic reshuffle and trimming expectations for the underlying business. Barclays cut its price target from EUR 60 to EUR 57 roughly a week ago while keeping its "Overweight" rating. Analyst Afonso Osorio backed the separation from the plain bearings unit and judged moderately lower estimates to be tolerable — approval of the restructuring, in other words, did not come with an unchanged view of earnings.
JPMorgan had already moved in the same direction about a week earlier, reducing its target from EUR 62 to EUR 50 and maintaining "Overweight." Analyst David H. Perry pointed to the slower ramp-up of German armored vehicle programs and a gloomier outlook for Renk's industrial operations.
What the Ownership Filings Actually Show
Behind the deal news, the shareholder register has been shifting. BlackRock reported a decline in its aggregate position to 4.05% from 4.13% in a mandatory disclosure published Monday, while UBS filed on Friday with a drop to 4.71% from 5.06%. Both notifications relate to a threshold being crossed on 21 October.
The composition of those positions deserves a closer look before anyone reads them as outright selling. Aggregate holdings bundle voting rights together with instruments, so they are not equivalent to direct share stakes. At BlackRock, 2.82% sat in voting rights and 1.24% in instruments; UBS's position consisted predominantly of instruments. The two moves point in the same direction but rest on differently structured exposures.

The Calendar Ahead
Renk will publish its quarterly statement for the first nine months of 2026 on 5 November and host a conference call the same day. For anyone trying to gauge the operating trajectory, that disclosure will say more than the ownership filings — those describe the structure of reported positions, while the quarterly figures speak to the business itself.
The strategic logic of the Miba sale can hold up even as slower program ramp-ups and weaker industrial demand weigh on forecasts. The two are not in conflict. What remains unresolved is the timing: the contract is binding, the approvals are pending, and the earnings base that will define Renk's valuation is only now coming into focus.
