Renk's Profitability Surprise Gives Analysts Fresh Ammunition — Even as the Share Price Lags Behind

The disconnect between Renk Group's operational momentum and its share price has rarely been starker. The defense supplier posted first-half numbers that beat expectations, prompting a flurry of analyst activity — yet the stock still trades roughly 44 percent below its 52-week peak.
The headline figure was the margin story. Revenue for the first half of 2026 came in at €637.2 million, a modest 2.7 percent advance, but adjusted EBIT jumped 10.1 percent to €98.2 million. That pushed the adjusted EBIT margin from 14.4 percent to 15.4 percent — the kind of profitability inflection that tends to sharpen analysts' pencils.
DZ Bank's Holger Schmidt was quick to respond, reiterating a "Buy" rating with a fair value of €64, citing the improved predictability of growth underpinned by a surging order pipeline. The backlog hit a record €7.4 billion as of June 30, up from €6.7 billion at the end of 2025. The book-to-bill ratio of 1.9 underscores how much more work Renk is taking in than it can currently process — a signal of sustained capacity utilization for years to come.
Barclays Flips, JPMorgan Leads the Bulls
The analyst community has been unusually active around the stock in recent days. Barclays initiated coverage on August 11 with an "Overweight" rating and a €60 price target — a notable shift, as the bank had previously held a "Neutral" stance before upgrading on Tuesday. Warburg Research reaffirmed its "Buy" call on August 10 with a €63 target, while Rothschild & Co Redburn also maintained its "Buy" recommendation the same day.
The most aggressive forecast comes from JPMorgan, which set a €75 price target with an "Overweight" rating on August 6. Jefferies matched the consensus optimism with a "Buy" and €60 target on the same date. The full range of analyst targets now spans €60 to €75, with every single one sitting comfortably above the current trading level.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Renk Group?
Management, for its part, confirmed the full-year guidance: revenue above €1.5 billion and adjusted EBIT between €255 million and €285 million. The reaffirmation matters because it signals that the defense spending boom is translating into operational delivery, not just order intake.
Institutional Interest Persists
The fundamental story is drawing institutional attention. BlackRock disclosed a voting rights stake of 4.07 percent in Renk on Monday, based on the position as of July 29, filed under Germany's securities trading act. While such disclosures don't reveal trading intent, they confirm that large asset managers remain engaged with the defense supplier.
The broader sector tailwind helps. With European defense budgets climbing and major programs advancing — including at naval shipbuilder TKMS — Renk benefits as a supplier of propulsion solutions for marine platforms.
The Stock Tells a Different Story
Yet the share price has been slower to reflect the improving fundamentals. Over the past 30 days, the stock has gained 16 percent, and on a monthly basis it's up roughly 15 percent. But year-to-date, it remains down about 5.4 percent, and over twelve months the decline is 17 percent. The stock traded at €51.06 on the most recent reading, still far from the €90.20 high reached in October of last year.
Technical indicators suggest the recent rally hasn't become overheated. The RSI sits at 63.8, and the shares trade 9.4 percent above their 50-day moving average — a solid uptrend with room to run.
A mandatory disclosure filed on August 3 under Article 40 of the German Securities Trading Act added little color, with no specific economic details revealed. For investors, the more consequential date is November 5, when Renk is scheduled to report third-quarter results — the next test of whether the operational strength can finally close the gap with the share price.
