Revolution Medicines Eyes Solo European Launch After CHMP Backing for Rasonque
Published on 10/16/2026 at 18:12 | Editorial boerse-global.deEuropean regulators have thrown their weight behind Revolution Medicines' pancreatic cancer therapy, setting the stage for a commercial push that the US biotech intends to run on its own.
The European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use recommended approval of daraxonrasib—marketed as Rasonque—as a once-daily oral monotherapy for adults with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma whose disease has progressed after at least one prior line of treatment. The European Commission now holds the final say on marketing authorization, and a favorable ruling would extend clearance across every EU member state plus the European Economic Area.
A Filing That Moved at Speed
The review ran through the EMA's accelerated pathway, wrapping up in under 150 days against the up to 210 active days a standard procedure can consume. That efficiency reflects both the unmet need in this patient group and the strength of the data package behind the application.
Those data come from the Phase 3 RASolute 302 trial, which enrolled 500 participants. Investigators recorded a 60% reduction in the risk of death across the overall population relative to chemotherapy. Median overall survival reached 13.2 months on daraxonrasib versus 6.7 months in the control arm, while median progression-free survival doubled from 3.6 months to 7.2 months.

Tolerability figures also favored the drug. Diarrhea appeared in 63.1% of patients, acneiform dermatitis in 62.4% and stomatitis in 55.5%, yet treatment-related discontinuations came in at just 1.2%—well below the 11.2% seen with chemotherapy. For a disease as stubborn as metastatic pancreatic cancer, which has long offered few targeted options, those survival gains stand out.
Rasonque works by blocking cancer-driving RAS proteins. The FDA cleared the therapy in the US on August 26, 2026. According to Reuters, a 30-day supply there carries a list price of $39,800—a figure that offers little guidance on European reimbursement levels, which will be negotiated country by country once the Commission signs off.
Building a Sales Force From Scratch
Rather than hand the continent to a licensing partner, Revolution Medicines is assembling its own commercial operation in Europe. At least 50 positions across the UK and continental Europe were posted last month ahead of the anticipated launch. Royalty Pharma has agreed to provide up to $2 billion for development and commercialization, giving the company financial room to fund that build-out.
The bet is a sizable one. Stifel analyst Laura Prendergast sees peak ex-US sales of $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion, driven chiefly by Europe and Japan. Industry-wide, analysts model a global peak of as much as $11.5 billion. William Blair launched coverage of the stock on Thursday with an Outperform rating and a $226 price target.
Shares Slip After a Powerful Run
Investors took profits following the announcement. The stock traded down 5.7% at EUR 159.20 intraday, though it remains up 131% year to date. The prior session's European close was EUR 168.80, leaving a gain of 145% since the start of the year at that point.
Beyond pancreatic cancer, Revolution Medicines is running additional trials to test the RAS inhibitor in earlier treatment lines and in other tumor types, including non-small cell lung cancer.
