Rheinmetall Balances Factory Opening and Arson Inquiry as Analysts Weigh 2030 Targets
Published on 11/02/2026 at 13:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deRheinmetall's week has been a study in contrasts: a new small-arms plant in England, an arson investigation at a German site, a fresh armoured-vehicle order and two analysts sticking with their buy calls even as one trimmed its price target.
On 22 October the DĂĽsseldorf-based group opened its UK Gun Hall in Telford, restoring independent large-calibre weapons manufacturing to Britain. The facility forms part of more than ÂŁ200 million Rheinmetall has spent on its British operations over the past five years.
Four days later, state security investigators were looking into a suspected arson attack on three pieces of construction equipment at a Rheinmetall building site at Kassel-Calden airport. Police were examining a letter of confession posted online, according to a Saturday report by Tagesschau. No confirmed findings had been released.
Armour order spans two nations
Also in the mix is a Schakal wheeled infantry fighting vehicle order placed with ARTEC, the joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland. The contract covers 35 vehicles for Germany and 34 for the Netherlands — 69 in total — and is worth a three-digit million-euro sum to Rheinmetall.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rheinmetall?
Jefferies, meanwhile, reaffirmed its "Buy" rating and €1,350 price target on Monday, ahead of the quarterly figures. Analyst Chloe Lemarie expects a solid quarter, likely underpinned by the weapons and ammunition business, and pointed to management commentary on the company's targeted order backlog.
Deutsche Bank Research took a more guarded line on 27 October, cutting its price target to €1,650 from €1,800 while keeping its "Buy" rating. Analyst Christoph Laskawi cited an expectations dilemma ahead of the capital markets day: any adjustment to the 2030 targets could weigh on earnings estimates, while the order contributions needed to underpin those goals remain uncertain. The note was explicitly framed around possible target revisions and their effect on expectations.
