Rheinmetall trades near its 52-week low before its 5 November Q3 report, as Deutsche Bank stays bullish and Berenberg downgrades to Hold.

Rheinmetall heads toward its third-quarter report on 5 November with its shares trading near the bottom of their 52-week range, and with the analyst community split over whether the defence group's current momentum can carry beyond the end of the decade.

The stock closed Friday at EUR 935.30, close to its 52-week low of EUR 902.50 and down 40% since the start of the year. That subdued level has not stopped Germany's largest defence contractor from pressing ahead on multiple fronts, from drone defence to satellites to a freshly enlarged credit facility.

A doubled credit line and a broader banking group

Rheinmetall renewed its syndicated credit facility ahead of schedule on Thursday, doubling the framework from EUR 750 million to EUR 1.5 billion. Beyond the increase for general corporate purposes, the group widened its lender pool to include international partners. The move gives the Düsseldorf-based company extra liquidity to handle its operational ramp-up and strategic initiatives.

Drone defence delivered down under

On the operational side, Rheinmetall Defence Australia and partner Praetorian Aeronautics handed over the first prototype of the containerised counter-drone system AERIE on Wednesday. The demonstrator, which can accommodate more than 20 interceptors, was developed within twelve months. Full operator demonstrations are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rheinmetall?

The Australian delivery forms part of a broader run of activity. On Tuesday, Rheinmetall Defence Australia agreed a cooperation with Breaker to integrate tactical software into the Australian Boxer reconnaissance vehicles, with the partners demonstrating voice-command control of autonomous systems. Rheinmetall ICEYE Space Solutions also disclosed on Tuesday that the Bundeswehr has gained direct access to assigned SAR satellites under the SPOCK-1 reconnaissance programme, allowing it to task them independently going forward.

Satellite production starts in Neuss

Jefferies analyst Chloe Lemarie reaffirmed her "Buy" rating on Wednesday, pointing to the start of production at the Neuss satellite site and the company's swift adaptation of existing capacity. Rheinmetall had announced roughly a week earlier, together with Argotec, the successful launch of their first jointly developed satellite, carried into orbit by a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base.

Bulls and bears split on the outlook

Deutsche Bank Research remains firmly in the bullish camp. Analyst Christoph Laskawi confirmed his "Buy" recommendation on Tuesday with a price target of EUR 1,800, forecasting revenue growth of more than 40% for the third quarter.

Berenberg takes the opposite view. The bank downgraded the stock from "Buy" to "Hold" on Friday and cut its target from EUR 1,600 to EUR 1,020, citing uncertain medium-term growth prospects. To secure reliable expansion beyond 2030, the analysts argued, the company needs significantly more incoming orders than currently appear likely.

Management puts money on the line

Ahead of the quarterly figures, company insiders have been buying. Chief executive Armin Papperger acquired shares worth just under EUR 499,000 on 29 September, followed shortly afterwards by another reported transaction through a foundation close to the supervisory board.

Whether the new space and software businesses can meaningfully support future earnings should become clearer when Rheinmetall publishes its detailed third-quarter numbers on 5 November 2026.
