SAP narrows 2026 profit guidance amid acquisitions, while partnerships like Match2 drive ecosystem-led growth toward 2029 targets.

The software giant's growth narrative is increasingly being written through partnerships rather than just product launches. The latest evidence arrived this month when US-based Match2 Inc. placed its "Connected Talent Solutions" software in the SAP Store, linking it to SAP SmartRecruiters and SAP Talent Solutions. It is a modest addition on its own, but one that illustrates how SAP is pulling external functionality into its core portfolio without shouldering the development costs itself.

That partner-led approach carries real weight as the company recalibrates its near-term expectations. SAP has narrowed its outlook for 2026 operating profit, now guiding to a non-IFRS figure between €11.8 billion and €12.2 billion. Management attributes the slight adjustment to dilution effects stemming from the acquisitions of Dremio and Prior Labs, both of which closed in July. Such purchases typically weigh on short-term margins as integration costs and purchase price amortization take their toll before scale benefits materialize.

The market's response was muted, with shares closing Friday at €179.80, down 0.7 percent on the day. The stock has nevertheless climbed 32 percent over the past 30 days, a remarkable rebound from the multi-year low hit in late July. Even so, SAP remains 14 percent in the red for the year to date. The secondary source notes the relative strength index sits at 70.4, a reading that suggests the equity is now overbought and vulnerable to short-term pullbacks.

A Longer Horizon Brings Bolder Projections

Looking further out, forecasts circulating in connection with the Match2 collaboration point to ambitious targets. SAP is projected to reach revenue of €53.4 billion and profit of €11.2 billion by 2029, implying annual growth of 11.8 percent and a profit jump of €3.4 billion from the current €7.8 billion. More optimistic analysts have set the bar higher still, modeling €56.2 billion in revenue and €12.5 billion in profit. From those assumptions, a fair value of €201.55 per share emerges, suggesting upside of roughly 12 percent from current levels.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying SAP?

These figures are projections rather than reported results, and they hinge on whether SAP can scale its cloud and AI operations at the assumed pace. The Match2 integration contributes only a small piece to that puzzle, yet it is symptomatic of a broader strategy: ecosystem effects are likely to matter more than individual software updates in driving the margin-rich growth targeted for 2029.

Partnerships and Public Sector Wins

The partnership pipeline has been busy beyond Match2. IT services firm Sopra Steria has announced an alliance with SAP focused on digital sovereignty solutions for Europe, a theme gaining traction among large continental customers amid geopolitical uncertainty. Separately, the education ministry of New South Wales has commissioned Infosys to modernize its existing SAP infrastructure, underscoring the reach of SAP systems within Australia's public sector.

Security Routine Passes Without Incident

On the security front, SAP published 28 new patches as part of its monthly Patch Day, four of them carrying the highest urgency rating. Compared with the security incidents of recent weeks that had caused considerable unease, this cycle passed without additional escalation. The next regular Patch Day is scheduled for September 9.

What to Watch Next

The picture forming is one of operational progress — new alliances, integration advances, and a steady flow of partner solutions — set against a more cautious earnings outlook. For investors, the decisive question is whether the outlays on Dremio and Prior Labs translate into genuine cloud growth as the year progresses. The third-quarter results, due October 21, should offer the first meaningful indication.
