Siemens shares gave up 2.9% on Friday, caught in a broad selloff across European equities that Reuters tied to a global correction in AI-related stocks and mounting uncertainty over AI spending. The news agency singled out Siemens Energy among the AI equipment makers feeling the pinch — a market-wide mood swing that offers no company-specific explanation for the decline in Siemens AG itself.

What the stock price obscured was a packed corporate calendar. Siemens closed its purchase of several core businesses from the MERMEC group on Wednesday, assets the company said will be folded into Siemens Mobility.

Taiwan metro mandate pairs Siemens tech with ST Engineering integration

Rail momentum carried into Thursday, when Siemens announced contracts to equip two metro lines in Taoyuan, Taiwan, with signaling and control technology. ST Engineering is the client; automating operations is part of the scope. The orders cover the Brown Line and the Green Line extension, with Siemens supplying its Signaling X platform while ST Engineering handles project management and systems integration. The new equipment is designed to support fully automated GoA4 operation along with train monitoring.

Revenue from those sections won't arrive quickly — the new stretches are slated to enter service in the mid-2030s. The award spans both signaling and the control and automation layers of the two metro links.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens?

Chippenham hub and Pune Metro round out the rail week

Friday brought another rail datapoint: Siemens opened a manufacturing and research center for rail infrastructure in Chippenham, UK, backing the site with a EUR 115 million investment. The facility employs 800 people, and Siemens said the center safeguards those local jobs.

India delivered its own milestone on Tuesday, when Line 3 of the Pune Metro opened for commercial passenger service following its official inauguration. Siemens supplied signaling, electrification and communications technology, plus ten years of maintenance.

Healthineers to shed the Siemens name ahead of 2027 separation

Thursday also produced the week's most consequential strategic signal. Siemens Healthineers said it will rename itself simply "Healthineers," a move the two companies framed in a joint statement as a step on the road to independence. They pointed to a planned deconsolidation through a spin-off in 2027. That remains a plan on paper, in contrast to the MERMEC acquisition, which Siemens has already reported as complete.

Siemens at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Buyback presses on as earnings date approaches

Shareholder returns proceeded in parallel. Siemens repurchased roughly 360,000 of its own shares between October 26 and November 1 inclusive, according to a November 2 disclosure that put the total volume since the program began on July 1 at about 5.6 million shares.

Outside the rail business, Siemens said Wednesday it had been named a leading provider in the IDC MarketScape for the lab of the future in life-sciences research and development. Investors will get the fuller picture on November 12, when the company publishes fourth-quarter results and preliminary figures for fiscal 2026. The press conference is scheduled for 08:00 CET, with the analyst call to follow at 09:30 CET.
