mwb research has reaffirmed its buy recommendation on TKMS, and the detail that matters most sits in the gap between the broker's growth forecast and the company's own planning. For fiscal 2025/26, the analysts project revenue growth of 16.1%, while management has guided for 10% to 12%. Hitting the company's target would therefore leave mwb's more bullish scenario unfulfilled.

The reconfirmed note, issued yesterday, puts revenue at EUR 2.52 billion. Alongside that top-line figure, mwb expects an adjusted EBIT margin of roughly 6.3% and an order backlog of about EUR 25 billion. All of these are analyst estimates rather than reported results, a distinction worth keeping in view as TKMS approaches its results season.

A Target That Hasn't Moved

The price target stands unchanged at EUR 140. Against yesterday's close of EUR 83.90, that implies substantial upside — a measure of how optimistic the research house is, though hardly a promise about where the shares will trade. What ultimately counts is whether the business can deliver on the numbers behind the target.

Revenue and margin belong together in any assessment. More business on its own says little about operating earning power, which is why the margin estimate adds a crucial yardstick to the growth expectation. And a reaffirmed buy rating, on its own, cannot tell investors whether TKMS will meet either figure.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying TKMS?

Bernstein Sees Strong Results, Trims Its Target

A broadly positive earnings view also came from Bernstein Research on Monday. Analyst Adrien Rabier expects results well ahead of market consensus. Even so, he cut his price target to EUR 115 from EUR 120, citing reduced liquidity assumptions, while keeping the stock at "Outperform."

That combination carries a lesson: strong operating prospects do not automatically translate into a higher valuation. Liquidity assumptions can weigh on a target even when the earnings outlook brightens, so the two need not move in the same direction.

Deutsche Bank Research weighed in on Monday as well. Analyst Sriram Krishnan highlighted the operating side, anticipating a strong finish to fiscal 2025/26 in both order intake and operating profit. Taken together, the analyst community is leaning friendly on the business — but the bar is set high, since the optimistic estimates demand more than simple delivery on management's own growth plan.

TKMS at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

Eight Frigates as the Backdrop

Underpinning the whole picture is the frigate program expansion approved in October. The Bundestag's budget committee gave the green light to four additional MEKO A-200 DEU frigates, bringing the program to eight ships. TKMS has called it the largest surface-vessel contract in its history.

Media reports put the cost of the extra frigates at around EUR 5.3 billion, with the first vessel scheduled for delivery at the end of 2029. That timeline matters for valuation: the scale of a program is not the same as revenue or profit already booked. For TKMS, two layers therefore sit side by side — the frigate program as the commercial backdrop, and the near-term expectations for revenue and operating margin that still have to be proven. The bullish analyst stance rests on both, but it does not substitute for the actual results.
