TKMS Supplies the Order Book, Not the Revenue, in L3Harris Submarine Deal

TKMS placed procurement orders with L3Harris for submarine mast-lifting gear; these are supplier contracts, not order intake or revenue for TKMS.

Two contracts worth several million US dollars each have landed at L3Harris — but the money flows the other way. TKMS placed the orders, covering mast-lifting equipment and the associated electronic control units destined for German and Norwegian submarines. L3Harris disclosed the awards yesterday without naming precise values or unit counts.

For anyone tracking the TKMS equity story, the direction of the transaction matters more than its size. This is procurement, not demand. The amounts cannot be booked as extra revenue or as an addition to TKMS's order intake, and they say nothing about the margin those submarine programmes will eventually earn. What the announcement does offer is a concrete glimpse into how the German and Norwegian boat programmes are being equipped.

A frigate decision sitting on a different shelf

Customer-side news exists, but it belongs to a separate file. The Bundestag's budget committee has cleared the purchase of four further MEKO A-200-DEU frigates, a move TKMS welcomed. Tagesschau put the price tag at roughly EUR 5.3 billion. That decision concerns additional ships; the L3Harris contracts concern submarine components. Lumping the two together into a single order headline would misrepresent both.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying TKMS?

The bar is set by forecasts, not by supplier notices

Hard financial yardsticks are still scarce. Roughly a fortnight ago, mwb research reportedly reiterated a "Buy" rating with a EUR 140 price target, projecting revenue growth of more than 16% for the 2025/26 fiscal year alongside an adjusted EBIT margin of about 6.3%. Those are expectations, not reported figures — and no supply contract substitutes for measuring them against actual results.

Two distinct layers therefore need keeping apart: a procurement notice describing a specific supplier transaction, and analyst estimates describing TKMS's overall trajectory.

Dates on the calendar

Before the numbers arrive, investors have the Metzler investor dialogue in Frankfurt on 5 November 2026, followed by a US roadshow in New York City on 9–10 November 2026. The financial report for fiscal 2025/26 is scheduled for 7 December.

That December publication is where the real examination takes place. How reported revenue and profitability stack up against those forecasts will drive the assessment. The L3Harris contracts are a genuine operational data point — but on their own they are no evidence of fresh customer demand or of a raised profit outlook.
