Vanguard's All-World ETF Is Europe's Bestseller This Year With €23 Billion Haul

Vanguard's FTSE All-World UCITS ETF drew about €23.0 billion in net inflows through September 30, 2025, even as tech-led volatility hit global equities.

A single fund has swallowed more European investor cash than any other exchange-traded product on the continent in 2025. The Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF USD Accumulation (ISIN IE00BK5BQT80) attracted an estimated €23.0 billion in net inflows through September 30, according to LSEG Lipper data — a tally no rival ETF in Europe comes close to matching.

September alone brought in roughly €2.7 billion, keeping the fund at the top of the European leaderboard for the month. That figure covers the overall fund rather than just the accumulating share class identified by the ISIN. A separate reading from data provider Ultumus, tracking the VWRA trading line under which the fund lists on several exchanges, put September net inflows at about $2.91 billion. The two numbers rest on different measurement bases and cannot simply be added together, though both point the same way.

Inflation Shock Rattles Global Equities

The money has arrived against a noticeably jumpier backdrop. A hotter-than-expected US inflation reading for September, reported by Reuters and the Associated Press, revived rate worries and weighed on technology names that carry heavy weight in world indices. Higher financing costs could crimp spending on AI infrastructure, and that concern sat at the heart of the selling.

Asian markets came under pressure on Wednesday and Thursday as the inflation data refuelled rate anxiety, with Reuters identifying tech weakness as the main driver of the retreat. AP described Wednesday's US session as the weakest since July — a sign of how broadly the pullback spread. Because the Vanguard fund tracks nearly the entire investable global equity universe, that tech slump feeds straight into its price.

Price Slips From October Peak

The ETF last changed hands at €170.24, leaving it 2.2% below its 52-week high of €174.00 set on October 7. On Thursday it shed 0.9%. The dip does little to dent the bigger picture: the fund is up 17% since the start of the year.

What stands out is the timing. Record September inflows coincided with the first stirrings of the rate concerns, and investors showed no inclination to trim exposure to globally diversified index funds as volatility picked up in tech and AI stocks. If anything, the mix of broad sector and regional spread with low costs appears to sharpen the appeal of products like this one when markets turn uncertain.

For an accumulating fund that reinvests income automatically rather than paying it out, that behaviour fits the long-horizon approach many holders take — often through savings plans that run regardless of daily price swings. Short-term setbacks seem to prompt more buying than retreat among these savers.

Tech Remains the Swing Factor

How the coming weeks unfold will hinge largely on whether US rate expectations tighten further and whether pressure on technology and AI names persists. With that sector accounting for a substantial slice of global index market capitalisation, it stays the key risk for near-term performance — independent of the structurally sturdy demand on the inflow side. The combination of relentless demand and a twelve-month uptrend should keep the fund's standing as a default core holding for European investors intact for now, even as pullbacks like the current one leave their mark on the price.
