Vertiv Holdings Co is widening its industrial footprint on two continents at once, pairing a major European plant expansion with a role in one of Asia's newest AI data center builds — a combination that keeps the liquid-cooling specialist at the center of the infrastructure boom even as its share price cools off.

Shares in the company changed hands at EUR 217.75 on Monday, down 2.1% on the day, a modest pullback that does little to dent a striking run: the stock has climbed 54% since the start of the year. The retreat came as Vertiv unveiled plans to enlarge its manufacturing site in western Slovakia, where the facility at Nové Mesto nad Váhom will grow by 22,000 square meters. The company intends to concentrate production of power, switchgear and cooling equipment at the location, with liquid-cooling systems built for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads taking priority.

Hundreds of new positions are expected to be created there over the coming years across engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance. The rationale is straightforward: the thermal output of the latest generation of AI accelerators is pushing air-based cooling toward its physical limits, forcing operators to adopt direct-to-chip liquid systems. Vertiv already runs plants in Ireland, Italy and Croatia, and the Slovak build-out deepens that European base.

The same forces are visible in Asia, where Hyundai Engineering on Monday won the contract for the first construction phase of the SGC AI data center in Gunsan, South Korea. The facility is designed for 60 megawatts of capacity and will run on Nvidia Vera Rubin processors. Vertiv is supplying modular power and cooling systems for the project, while KT Cloud will handle operations and full-scale liquid cooling.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vertiv?

Service Arm Grows Through King Environmental

Beyond hardware, Vertiv is moving to capture the service revenue that accompanies liquid-cooled deployments. The company has struck a deal to acquire King Environmental Services Ltd., an Irish-based provider located near Dublin that specializes in fluid management, commissioning and load testing for liquid-cooled data centers. The purchase extends a strategy Vertiv already pursued in North America with its December 2025 acquisition of PurgeRite, and it broadens the company's support capabilities across the European market.

Financial terms of the King Environmental agreement were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Vertiv said the deal's financial conditions should not have a material impact on its results.

Wells Fargo Opens Coverage With an Overweight Rating

Analysts added their own vote of confidence on Friday, when Wells Fargo initiated coverage of Vertiv with an Overweight rating and a $340 price target. The bank pointed to sustained growth in the global data center market as the primary driver behind its bullish stance.

That endorsement sits alongside a less comfortable development. On Wednesday, Hagens Berman announced an investigation into potential violations of U.S. securities law, tied to a second-quarter 2026 revenue miss and allegations that operational risks were not adequately disclosed beforehand.

Africa Distribution Deal Adds Another Growth Channel

Vertiv's commercial reach is expanding elsewhere as well. On September 17, the company agreed a partnership with Pinnacle ICT aimed at widening access to its power, cooling and IT infrastructure products across the countries of the Southern African Development Community.

Worldwide data center construction remains the core engine for Vertiv. The steady shift toward direct liquid cooling and prefabricated power modules has left the specialist with a well-stocked project pipeline of large international builds — and, for now, a shareholder base that has been rewarded with a 57% gain year to date.
