Vertiv's Order Book Doubles as Wall Street Splits on What It's Worth
Published on 11/07/2026 at 16:44 | Editorial boerse-global.deVertiv shareholders got a reminder this week that a surging order book and a surging share price are two different things. The data-center power and cooling specialist drew sharply opposing verdicts from two research houses on the same day, even as its third-quarter results painted a picture of demand running well ahead of revenue.
The stock rose 4.1% on Friday, catching a broader rebound in AI-linked equities that AP reported as a recovery from earlier losses. The improved read on the sector's political backdrop had actually surfaced the prior Tuesday, when Bernstein argued that policy risks to U.S. data-center construction were less severe than the market had feared—a call that helped lift power-supply and data-center equipment names.
Two Analysts, Two Directions
Bernstein reaffirmed its Outperform rating on Monday with a $376 price target. GLJ Research, working the same day, trimmed its target to $187 from $188 and kept its Sell recommendation. The gap between the two positions is the widest kind of disagreement: one house sees substantial upside, the other sees a stock worth selling.
The fundamentals underneath that dispute are hard to argue with. Vertiv reported net sales of $4.31 billion for the third quarter of 2026 on October 28, up 61% year over year. Adjusted diluted earnings per share climbed 78% to $2.21. Organic orders, meanwhile, more than doubled from a year earlier—growth that outstripped the revenue increase itself.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vertiv?
That order momentum is the bull case in its purest form, provided the backlog converts into profitable business. Investors will want to see further sales gains and earnings progress validate the demand surge; confirmation on that front would give the positive thesis real staying power.
Guidance Sets a High Bar
Roughly two weeks ago, Vertiv raised its full-year 2026 outlook. Management now expects net sales in a range of $14.45 billion to $14.85 billion, a midpoint of $14.65 billion, with adjusted diluted EPS forecast at a midpoint of $7.15. Hitting those numbers is the concrete test that follows from the order growth—demand is strong, and the company expects the financials to match.
A three-year strategic agreement with Infineon Technologies AG fits the same narrative. The pact is designed to secure long-term access to power semiconductors built on silicon and silicon carbide, including components destined for Vertiv's next-generation 800-VDC power systems. Its value lies in tying supply capability to demand—making sure the parts are there when the orders come due.
Vertiv at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Vertiv's next confirmed appearance on the calendar is Baird's Global Industrial Conference on November 10, 2026.
For all the noise around a single trading session, the operating evidence is what carries weight here. Vertiv has posted forceful growth, lifted its expectations and locked in supply. The open question is execution: if orders turn into revenue and earnings, the bullish read on the shares gains a firmer foundation.
