Vulcan Energy's LSC-3a Delivers 64 Litres per Second as Citigroup Trims Stake
Published on 10/31/2026 at 21:40 | Editorial boerse-global.deVulcan Energy's shares shed 11% yesterday as lithium carbonate prices slid nearly 20% over the previous month, with media reports linking the broader pressure on Australian lithium stocks to the commodity's retreat. Neither account ties the selloff to anything the company itself disclosed — a distinction that matters, because Vulcan released its September-quarter report the same day.
Citigroup Global Markets Australia Cuts Holding
Citigroup Global Markets Australia filed notice on Thursday that its voting stake in Vulcan Energy had fallen from 11.3823% to 9.8692%. The disclosure puts the bank's position below the increase it had reported just over a week earlier.

Offsetting those inflows, operating activities absorbed EUR 11.108 million, while investing activities consumed EUR 97.961 million. Drilling and construction at the Lionheart project stayed within both schedule and budget, according to the company. No fresh production guidance accompanied the report, and Vulcan recorded no lost-time injuries during the quarter.
LSC-3a Test Beats Lionheart Design Case
The technical headline came from well LSC-3a, where testing on 15 October produced a matrix reinjection rate of roughly 64 standard litres per second under planned operating conditions — well above the approximately 40 litres per second assumed in Lionheart's development case. Vulcan called the results risk-reducing and said they strengthened confidence in the field development plan. Testing at a seventh well after the quarter closed also confirmed matrix injection, and management said the findings underpin the base-case production scenario.
