Vulcan Energy has told investors that the first drawdown on its committed project financing facilities will not happen until the first quarter of 2027. The facilities sat entirely unused at the close of the reporting quarter, according to the quarterly cash-flow statement published on Friday.

The disclosure landed alongside a sharp move in the share price. The stock shed 11% on Friday, with no confirmed trigger for the decline. On the day of this report it was down a further 3.1%, extending the weakness that set in around the release of the quarterly figures.

Funding taps open on two fronts, not three

Money is already moving on other parts of the financing package. Vulcan said it has begun drawing on strategic equity capital and on grant funding, even as the project loans remain on the shelf until next year. The distinction matters: the equity and subsidy lines are live, while the debt facilities are committed but undrawn.

For the third quarter of 2026, the company reported a net cash outflow from operating activities of EUR 11.108 million. Net cash used in investing activities came to EUR 97.961 million. The two figures cover separate sections of the cash-flow statement and are not earnings measures.

A EUR 209.4 million cushion

Total financial resources at the end of the reporting quarter, including time deposits, stood at EUR 209.4 million. Cash on hand accounted for EUR 129.4 million of that sum, with a further EUR 80.0 million held in term deposits.

At Lionheart, construction and drilling were reported as running on schedule and within budget — a statement of project status at the time of reporting rather than confirmation that the works are finished.

Seventh test backs matrix injection

After the quarter closed, a test at the LSC-3a well confirmed matrix injection, according to the company. The quarterly report tied the result to the seventh drilling test. The release therefore carried a technical progress update alongside the cash-flow numbers.

Registers show heavyweight backing

Ownership disclosures have shifted in recent weeks. JPMorgan Chase & Co. and its affiliates reported a stake of 6.98%, up from 5.38% previously. That filing covered securities lending arrangements and proprietary transactions, so it does not represent purely ordinary share purchases.

Morgan Stanley also disclosed a changed position, reporting 5.12% against 3.74% in its prior notification. The filing does not identify the change as the cause of the price decline.

Citigroup added a third data point roughly two weeks earlier, with its reported aggregate position in Vulcan Energy rising to 6.03% from 4.19%. That holding spanned voting rights attached to shares as well as positions held through instruments.
