XRP Ledger Opens Delegated Permissions to Institutions as Tokenized Assets Swell

Institutional operators on the XRP Ledger can now split transaction authority away from the keys that control their funds. The network activated the PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment at ledger 107,524,865 on Thursday, unlocking a feature that lets account holders hand specific transaction rights to separate accounts.
The practical payoff for regulated firms is straightforward: day-to-day operations can be farmed out without exposing master private keys. Organizations may configure as many as ten permissions per delegated account, and holders can revise or revoke those rights at any time through the DelegateSet command. Payment processing and compliance checks can therefore be decoupled from custody of the primary keys, leaving sensitive credentials in offline storage.
The delegation covers transaction types only. The upgrade sets no spending caps and imposes no restrictions tied to individual currencies.
Tokenized assets climb past BNB Chain
The governance expansion lands alongside a sharp rise in real-world assets on the ledger. Figures from the RWA Foundation put the increase in tokenized value on the XRP Ledger at roughly $3.7 billion since the start of the year, excluding stablecoins. That places the blockchain ahead of BNB Chain, which added $3.5 billion. Stellar followed with a $2.8 billion gain, and Solana with $2.2 billion, with the group accounting for the bulk of market-wide growth.
Institutional adoption was already visible in July, when Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of a US dollar liquidity fund on the XRP Ledger.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
More components are queued for validator approval, according to developer platform RippleX, including confidential transfers, dynamic multi-purpose tokens, and sponsored transaction fees. Atomic Batch, which enables bundled execution of linked transfers, went live on Wednesday.
ETF inflows offset a broader selloff
Broader crypto markets have been under pressure, yet regulated vehicles tied to XRP are still drawing money. Geopolitical developments and stress in macro markets weighed on the sector, and on Wednesday Bitcoin slipped below $84,000, briefly dragging XRP from about $1.52 to near $1.46. The trigger was largely a wave of derivative liquidations across the market rather than any XRP-specific regulatory action.
Even so, US spot XRP ETFs recorded net inflows of roughly $8 million on Thursday. Franklin Templeton's XRPZ fund captured the largest share, absorbing about 6 million XRP that day. While other crypto fund groups saw outflows, XRP products stood alone with a positive balance.
Infrastructure work continues
Market participants are pushing the ledger's infrastructure forward in parallel with fund demand. CSD BR and Ripple began the first phase of a collaboration in late September, using the network to mirror ownership records for selected shares in BTG Pactual investment funds, with official registration and settlement remaining in CSD BR's systems.
Developers flagged one caution in the technical documentation: the burn permission for payments should not be delegated ahead of an upcoming cleanup, to avoid unwanted token minting by third parties.
Exchange wallets held roughly 21.97 billion XRP as of Thursday, according to media reports. Those balances do not automatically represent coins actively offered for sale, since internal depot transfers also affect the figures.
XRP trades at $1.40, up 0.7% on the day, and sits about 9.4% above its 200-day average of $1.28. Whether the macro mood settles and institutional inflows can anchor the price will shape what comes next.
