XRP Ledger Set for Permission Upgrade as Evernorth's Nasdaq Debut Slips to October 12

A protocol change is slated to go live on the XRP Ledger this evening, with validators expected to trigger the PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment at roughly 21:25 UTC provided the required majority holds. The feature lets account holders grant specific permissions to other addresses without handing over their private keys — a structural tweak that could open the door to a broader wave of technical adjustments. According to media reports, additional protocol amendments may follow within a window of about 17 hours if validator backing remains steady.
The upgrade lands against a noticeably cooler backdrop in institutional demand. Weekly net inflows into U.S.-listed XRP spot ETFs have thinned to about $4.74 million, a sharp step down from the $75.6 million those products pulled in the prior week. Across all issuers, net inflows for the trading day reached $3.1404 million, bringing cumulative net inflows to $1.794 billion. Total net assets in the funds stand at $1.697 billion.
Evernorth Pushes Nasdaq Listing Back Four Days
Attention is also fixed on an upcoming exchange debut. The launch of the XRP vehicle on the Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN has been pushed from October 8 to October 12, according to Evernorth, which attributed the shift to an administrative delay. The company stressed that the holdup does not jeopardize completion of the transaction. The formal close of the merger with Armada II is now expected on October 9.
Armada II shareholders had already approved the combination on September 30, with roughly 94% of votes cast in favor. Evernorth anticipates gross proceeds of about $300 million from closing the deal, alongside a holding of approximately 473 million XRP. Both dates remain contingent on the usual closing conditions and Nasdaq's regulatory requirements.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?
Paxos Opens Institutional Door as ETF Streak Reaches Twelve Weeks
Even as the New York listing faces a short delay, the plumbing for professional investors keeps expanding. Paxos announced on Wednesday that it has integrated the token into its Crypto Brokerage offering, giving institutional partners API-based access to trading, custody, and deposits and withdrawals of XRP.
Institutional appetite for listed products has provided further ballast. U.S. XRP ETFs drew $3.14 million in net inflows yesterday, extending a run of inflows that now stretches to twelve consecutive weeks and lifting the cumulative total to roughly $1.79 billion.
Leverage Flush Weighs on Price
Those operational gains ran into a market gripped by profit-taking and deleveraging. Data from analytics firm CoinGlass shows more than $550 million in crypto derivatives positions were forcibly liquidated within 24 hours, with the bulk of that tied to long bets.
The liquidity drain showed up immediately in the quote. XRP is down 4.5% today at $1.43, widening its gap to a 52-week high of $3.00 to 52%. The token currently trades 0.8% below its 50-day average of $1.43. Yesterday, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, rising oil prices, and a firmer dollar weighed on the broader crypto market, dragging XRP lower as well.
Market participants now have their eyes on the weekend: with the Evernorth merger targeted for completion on Friday and trading set to begin early next week, the next catalysts for valuation look to be close at hand.
