A broad risk-off wave across cryptocurrency markets dragged XRP lower on Wednesday, with the token shedding 3.8% to trade at $1.44. No XRP-specific catalyst drove the pullback; instead, a punishing macro backdrop — rising oil prices, elevated US Treasury yields and a stronger dollar — weighed on risk assets across the board. In derivatives markets, liquidations of leveraged long positions compounded the selling pressure on major tokens.

The correction swept through market leaders like Bitcoin and the wider altcoin complex alike. XRP proved unable to sidestep the downward tide, even as sector sentiment had previously drawn support from steady inflows.

ETF Demand Fails to Stem the Slide

Institutional products offered little cushion against the day's losses. US spot XRP ETFs recorded net inflows of $3.14 million on Tuesday, according to media reports, extending a streak of twelve consecutive weeks of positive flows. On the spot market, however, those volumes were nowhere near enough to absorb the weight of sellers.

Ripple, meanwhile, pressed ahead with its institutional buildout. The company's Ripple Prime platform will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by Brevan Howard, the macro hedge fund overseeing roughly $35 billion in assets. The arrangement spans both traditional and digital markets, though Ripple made clear the agreement neither entails a purchase nor mandatory use of the XRP token.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

The partnership builds on an existing relationship — Brevan Howard funds participated in a $500 million Ripple funding round last year. For the blockchain firm, the tie-up marks another step into the circle of mainstream asset managers, reinforcing its institutional footing even if transactions don't necessarily settle through the token itself.

Grayscale Reworks Redemption Mechanics

Fund providers are simultaneously upgrading their operational plumbing. Filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission show Grayscale introducing in-kind transactions for its GXRP product, allowing authorized participants to create and redeem fund shares directly against tokens.

Analysts at CryptoQuant flagged substantial repositioning activity alongside these developments. Roughly 1.6 billion XRP flowed onto Binance over the past 30 days — a shift that expands the liquid supply available on exchanges but does not by itself confirm outright selling.

Evernorth Nears Nasdaq Debut

On the corporate front, Evernorth Holdings told the SEC its planned merger with special purpose acquisition company Armada Acquisition Corp. II is expected to close around October 9. Trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN should follow around October 12. Armada shareholders approved the transaction just over a week ago; upon completion, Evernorth aims to hold approximately 473 million XRP.

Network-level changes are also approaching their activation windows. According to media reports, system modifications for permission delegation and bundled transactions are nearing go-live. The BatchV1_1 upgrade would let developers submit groups of up to eight transactions at once, contingent on validator approval.

The operational progress and product adjustments have faded into the background amid the macroeconomic turbulence. Following the recent losses, the token now sits 52% below its 52-week high.
