Hess Midstream transaction

In a release dated October 6, 2026, Chevron said it had entered agreements to transfer its ownership interests and general partner position in Hess Midstream, along with its DJ Basin crude oil midstream assets, to Hess Midstream. In exchange, Chevron will receive $200 million in cash and revised long-term Bakken commercial terms. The SEC filing said the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close by year-end 2026.

Chevron expects the revised agreements to reduce its Bakken unit midstream costs by approximately 50 percent. The company also expects to recognize a one-time after-tax loss of approximately $3 billion to $4 billion at closing, which it expects to treat as a special item, according to the filing.

Leadership changes

Chevron also announced on October 5, 2026, that Jeff Gustavson will become chief financial officer, Eimear Bonner will become president of Oil, Products & Gas, and Brent Gros will become president of New Energies, effective January 1, 2027. Mark Nelson will remain vice chairman with responsibility for Strategy and Business Development, according to the Chevron release.
