DuPont announced on September 10, 2026, that it had reached a settlement with the State of North Carolina and 11 local entities concerning PFAS and other historical discharges linked to Fayetteville Works. The agreement also covers certain PFAS contamination claims unrelated to the site.
Under the agreement, settlement payments will total $455 million over 15 years, beginning within 30 days of execution. The terms remain subject to entry of dismissals in the covered litigation. DuPont said the settlement's net present value is approximately $355 million to be shared by DuPont, Chemours and Corteva.
DuPont's pre-tax share has a present value of approximately $126 million, with 44% to be reimbursed by Qnity Electronics, according to the company. DuPont said the amount is materially covered by existing accruals. DuPont
