Eni announced on October 1 that it had completed the reorganization of Plenitude’s shareholding structure with Ares Management Alternative Credit funds and Energy Infrastructure Partners. The transaction included a non-proportional capital increase of EUR 1.56 billion, with EUR 1.08 billion subscribed by Ares and EUR 0.48 billion by Eni, according to Eni.

Following completion, Eni held 65.03 percent of Plenitude, while Ares held 26.24 percent and EIP held 8.73 percent. Eni said the new governance framework gives it and Ares joint control and results in Plenitude’s deconsolidation from Eni’s consolidated financial statements, while Eni retains de jure control and continues direction and coordination activities, the company said in the same release.

Argentina LNG project discussed

On October 2, Eni said its CEO Claudio Descalzi met Argentine President Javier Milei in Paris to discuss cooperation in the energy sector and investment opportunities. The company said the Argentina LNG project, developed with YPF and XRG, initially envisages production of 12 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year through two floating liquefaction facilities, with production planned to start in 2030, according to Eni.
