October 2 operating update
In a company release dated October 2, Freeport-McMoRan said third-quarter 2026 consolidated copper production was approximately 830 million pounds, in line with expectations. Gold production was approximately 230,000 ounces and also approximated expectations.
The company expected third-quarter copper sales to approximate its July estimate of 750 million pounds. Gold sales were expected to approximate 100,000 ounces, below the July estimate because about 60,000 ounces of refined gold sales were deferred from the third quarter to the fourth quarter.
Freeport-McMoRan also said progress continued on the phased ramp-up of the Grasberg Block Cave underground mine in Indonesia. The company continued to expect 80 percent of capacity in mid-2027 and an approach to full capacity by year-end 2027. It said its Eastern Java smelter resumed operations in late August 2026.
The company plans to release third-quarter 2026 earnings before the market opens on October 27, 2026, according to the same release.
Dividend announcement
In a September 23 release, Freeport-McMoRan said its board declared a total cash dividend of USD 0.15 per share, payable November 2, 2026, to shareholders of record on October 15, 2026.
