The project includes network expansion, infrastructure modernization and the replacement of traditional meters with smart meters.
Portugal transaction
In a separate announcement dated October 2, 2026, Italgas said it had signed a binding agreement with Marubeni Corporation and Toho Gas Co. Ltd. to acquire 100 percent of Meet Europe Natural Gas, which holds a 22.5 percent stake in Portugal's Floene. The equity value is approximately EUR 120 million, and completion is subject to conditions including regulatory approvals, according to the Italgas release. Floene has approximately 1.1 million active users and a network of around 14,000 kilometers.
