OpenAI investment completed
In a release dated October 1, 2026, SoftBank Group Corp. said it had executed the third and final tranche of its follow-on investment in OpenAI through SoftBank Vision Fund 2. The investment amounted to USD 10.0 billion, or JPY 1,579.6 billion at the company’s stated conversion rate of USD 1 to JPY 157.96. The transaction completed the previously announced USD 30.0 billion follow-on program, bringing SoftBank Group’s cumulative investment in OpenAI to USD 64.6 billion and its ownership interest to approximately 13 percent.
Bridge facility status
SoftBank Group said the third tranche was funded with proceeds from foreign-currency senior notes. Effective September 30, 2026, it canceled the remaining USD 10.0 billion of undrawn capacity under a bridge facility with a total amount of USD 40.0 billion. The company said that, following the cancellation and an earlier repayment, all borrowings under the facility had been repaid and no undrawn commitments remained.
