Starship prepares for orbital missions
In an update dated September 15, 2026, SpaceX said Starship was preparing to move into an orbital-flight phase. The company said Flight 14 would begin orbital missions designed to deliver Starlink V3 satellites and other payloads and to conduct new tests, including an initial orbital propellant-transfer demonstration.
SpaceX said the initial orbital flight profiles would retain passively safe suborbital options and include predetermined opportunities for an early water landing or deorbit if required. The company also said flight controllers would monitor vehicle systems throughout the mission.
