MSCI World ETF Rebalancing: Three US Stocks Set for Inclusion
12.02.2026 - 14:30:19Investors in one of the world's most popular exchange-traded funds are set to see a shift in its underlying holdings. The latest quarterly review by index provider MSCI has been finalized, introducing changes to the composition of the global benchmark. This rebalancing will directly impact the iShares MSCI World ETF, prompting adjustments to its portfolio.
The restructuring occurs against a backdrop of sustained economic strength in the United States, which continues to be the dominant force within the MSCI World Index. Recent labor market data for January 2026 reinforces a "soft landing" scenario. The creation of 130,000 new jobs and a slight dip in the unemployment rate to 4.3% point to a resilient environment for US equities. This is a critical factor for the ETF, as its performance is heavily influenced by the American economic cycle.
Key Additions to the Index
While the broader MSCI ACWI Index will see 63 additions and 61 deletions, the focus for the developed-markets-focused iShares MSCI World ETF is on three major US companies. These firms, ranked by market capitalization, represent the most significant new entries:
- AST SpaceMobile (Space-based mobile networks)
- Coherent Corp (Materials and laser technology)
- FTAI Aviation (Aviation industry)
Their inclusion increases the index's exposure to themes of industrial innovation and connectivity. Because passive funds like ETFs are obligated to mirror their benchmark's composition precisely, an automatic wave of buying pressure for these shares is expected ahead of the effective date.

Implementation and Fund Impact
The necessary portfolio adjustments will be executed at the close of trading on Friday, February 27. Starting Monday, March 2, 2026, the ETF will officially reflect the updated index structure.
Although established technology giants remain the fund's primary performance drivers, adding companies such as AST SpaceMobile provides broader diversification into high-growth niche sectors. This rebalancing is a routine yet essential process that ensures the fund accurately tracks its evolving benchmark.
