Only about a quarter of people who own a computer mouse actually take it with them when they work away from their desk. That mismatch, flagged by Logitech's CEO Hanneke Faber, is what the company’s new Mobi Fold is designed to fix.

The device hinges open to a maximum angle of 130 degrees. Folded shut, it shrinks to nearly half its size, measuring just 21 millimetres thick. At 79 grams, it slips easily into any laptop bag.

Instead of a mechanical scroll wheel, Logitech fitted a touch-sensitive surface. There is no separate power switch — the mouse turns on when flipped open and off again when closed.

Ergonomics on the Road

Anyone who has spent a day hunched over a laptop trackpad knows the resulting neck and shoulder tension. Logitech claims that using the Mobi Fold reduces muscle strain by about 22 percent compared with a trackpad.

Faber cited an internal market finding: 72 percent of computer owners own a mouse, but only 26 percent use one while mobile. The Mobi Fold is meant to close that gap.

Bluetooth handles the connection. An Easy-Switch feature lets the mouse manage links to as many as three devices at the same time and toggle quickly between them.

Charging Specs and Availability

Battery performance varies with usage. Some reports give a full hour of charging for 22 hours of use, but technical tests indicate that just one minute of charging delivers the same 22 hours. A full charge supposedly lasts an entire month.

The Mobi Fold costs around €80, or 80 Swiss francs. In Switzerland it is available at retailers including Brack and Galaxus.

Logitech positions the product strictly as a mobile complement — not as a full desktop replacement.
