Billy Joel sets 11 December for Turnstiles box set
The official announcement dated 30 September 2026 names Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings as the labels releasing the collection. The box set is released on 11 December 2026. It pairs four CDs with one Blu-ray and presents archival audio and video around the album.
The set contains 67 audio tracks, including 54 previously unreleased recordings. It also carries 32 video performances, a complete Billy Joel Tonight concert film and a Dolby Atmos version of the original album. Billy Joel’s catalogue meets the Turnstiles archive
The collection places Turnstiles alongside Piano Man, Streetlife Serenade and The Stranger, tracing the creative movement around one album. That arrangement connects its archival focus with Billy Joel’s established catalogue rather than presenting unrelated recordings.
Named songs include New York State Of Mind, Summer, Highland Falls, James and Say Goodbye To Hollywood. The set also includes rare demos, alternate takes, live recordings and studio sessions.
The Turnstiles box set extends beyond the album
One part of the Blu-ray is the complete Billy Joel Tonight film, restored and presented in high definition. The package adds rehearsal footage, production inserts and archival material.
Four audio discs divide the collection between demos and early versions, album sessions, a live performance and the Billy Joel Tonight soundtrack. The 40-page hardcover booklet adds photographs, archival material and liner notes by David Fricke, with historical notes from John Jackson.
