Lenovo's Yoga Pro 9 Sets a Display Benchmark as AI Infrastructure Push Accelerates

Lenovo has secured a first-to-market hardware distinction while simultaneously deepening its footprint in artificial intelligence infrastructure, a dual push that comes as the company navigates a sharply contracting PC market.
Testing firm SGS confirmed that the Yoga Pro 9 16IPH11 became the first device worldwide to earn the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 industry certification, following technical measurements conducted by Granite River Labs. The designation raises the bar for contrast and black-level performance on OLED panels, giving Lenovo a positioning tool in the premium segment.
The certification news landed alongside a flurry of product activity. Sales of the ThinkBook 14x opened in India on Wednesday, with the notebook carrying Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors and an entry price of 108,990 Indian rupees. Lenovo also unveiled the YOGA Pro 15 RTX Spark, a device built around Nvidia's N1X chip with 128 gigabytes of unified memory, pitched as an AI PC featuring a local agent.
Institutional AI Research Role
Beyond consumer hardware, the company has joined a national research initiative led by the Documentation and Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The participation signals Lenovo's ambition to serve as an infrastructure partner for computationally intensive large-scale projects, extending well past its traditional hardware business.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Lenovo?
That institutional angle complements a broader enterprise offensive. Together with Nvidia, Lenovo launched the Lenovo AI Express platform, which bundles three pre-validated configurations for AI infrastructure to help businesses deploy their own models. For selected smaller system configurations, the company guarantees delivery within 15 working days. The partnership extends into specialized sectors as well: on Tuesday, the two firms presented joint infrastructure solutions for life sciences organizations at the BioTechX Europe trade fair.
A Market Pausing After a Powerful Run
These initiatives are unfolding against meaningful headwinds in the conventional computer business. Preliminary IDC data for the third quarter of 2026 put Lenovo's shipments at 14.9 million units and its global market share at 23.8 percent — but volumes fell 22.6 percent from the year-earlier quarter. Worldwide PC shipments declined 20.1 percent over the same period, a dip industry observers attributed to memory-chip shortages and inventory orders pulled forward in earlier quarters.
The shipment decline gave the stock a breather following its earlier advance. Shares finished Friday's European session at EUR 3.73, up 1.8 percent on the day, yet the price sits 12 percent below its 52-week high. Even so, the equity has climbed 263 percent since the start of the year. Thursday had brought broader selling pressure across AI-related names, with media reports pointing to warnings about an investment bubble in the sector weighing on valuations.
What Management Will Lay Out Next
Investors will get a fuller picture of the strategic direction in the new year. On January 6, Lenovo will host its Tech World conference at CES 2027 in Las Vegas, where Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang is scheduled to deliver a keynote at the Sphere venue on the group's hybrid AI strategy.
